The Sunday Scoop

O Blog, Where Art Thou?  I've missed you so!  The whole work, life, BLOG balance is a little more challenging than expected, and I just need to get out from under that comfy duvet and meet the computer again.

So here I am, in the peaceful serenity of Sunday morning, ready to highlight some great finds from this weeks blog reading.  I am going to do this in a little different format today, because I was actually given my first blog award, and it allows me to pass on the award to some of my favorite blogs!

Annette from Mommy Spirit gave me the Versatile Blogger Award.  I was so surprised to be acknowledged by Annette, and really appreciate her thinking of me.  This is such an encouragement to find time in these busy days to keep writing and supporting other fantastic bloggers.

In order to receive the award fully, I must
1) Thank the person who gave me the award. Thanks again, Annette.
2) Share seven things about myself.
3) Nominate 15 newly discovered blogs, and let the nominees know about the award.

So here are 7 things you may not know about me:

1.  I really enjoy running and my biggest athletic accomplishment was running a half-marathon.  Band director and athlete do not usually go in the same sentence, but I finally found my healthy niche.

2.  I live within 2 miles of my parents, in the same community in which I grew up.  I always made fun of people who did this, and then Mr. Cheeks arrived.  And I just wanted my mama....

3.  My mother bribed me with cookies as a young child, and now I can not finish my lunch without some sort of round circle of goodness.

4.  I can play all of the instruments in the school band, even the tuba....I think I just got my first idea for a VLOG.

5.  I love sushi, and next to a glass of wine, it was the thing I missed most when I was pregnant.

6.  Continuing with the thoughts of wine, my dream would be to own a vineyard.  I never met a glass of wine I didn't like, so I think this would be a good fit.

7.  Children inspire me.  Although middle school can often be compared to hell (on a good day), I find true inspiration in the minds and actions of children.

Now it's time for the most important part of the award. I have been inspired each day by the amazing words of fellow bloggers.  I am exited to present this award to other women who make me laugh, remind me what is truly important in life, and share ideas that make life easier.  In no particular order:

Go check out these talented ladies, and share some comment love.

Glad you found some time to blog! I love that you're a band director and a runner. I was in band through college (marching band) and have several friends who are band directors! It's so important that kids have the opportunity to be in band, I learned so much from the experience. More than just how to play a saxophone! I'm also a runner and half marathon is my favorite distance.

Stopping by from SITS, hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh my goodness, are we separated at birth? I could've written most of your post...going through sushi and wine withdrawal during pregnancy, living close to my parents again, loving to run, thinking no meal is complete without a cookie (or something chocolate). How funny. Just found your blog and wanted to say hello!

Thanks so much for including me on your list!

I wish I could be a runner (your #1) - it just isn't me. And I think it's GREAT you live so close to your family. Before my mom passed away, my parents lived 2 blocks away and it was wonderful.

Happy Sunday!

I love your blog. I seriously understand about trying to balance work, family, home and blog life. I am new to blogging and it seems at times that if you let it, it can completely take over.
I am following you.

Congrats on finishing a half marathon. That's an impressive accomplishment. I've tried running, and I just can't do it in a stretch longer than 5 minutes - pretty sad.

Thanks so much for the award! I'm flattered that you thought of my blog.

Thanks so much for this honor Katie! What an honor coming from you. :) I love that you visit regularly and left such a sweet comment telling me why you're bestowing this on me.

I hear you on the work, home, blog balance. It's tough for me some says. I'm up late after everyone is in bed just to get caught up.

Hi Katie, thank you so much for your kind comments and for visiting me through the SITS feature! It's a pleasure to meet you and to visit your lovely blog! I'm in awe of your musical talent, and am impressed at your physical accomplishment with the half-marathon! Sushi is one of my favorite treats, as well, and was probably the thing I missed most when I was pregnant too. Here's to your vineyard dream becoming a reality! Cheers! Jenn
